About the Parent's Guide
The Parent's Guide serves as an excellent and informative overview of the Theology of the Body for Teens curriculum. While it has been specifically written for parents of teens participating in the program, it will help any parent learn more about the Theology of the Body so that they may pass this life-changing message on to their teens. It includes a basic introduction to the Theology of the Body, summaries of each of the twelve chapters in the Student Workbook, thought-provoking study questions for parents & teen discussion, and family applications that are designed to help foster a Theology of the Body culture in the home.
The Theology of the Body for Teens Parent's Guide includes:
- Summaries of each of the 12 chapters of the Student Workbook.
- A basic intro to the tob for parents, as well as an understanding of what their teens will be learning when they participate in the program.
- Study questions at the end of each chapter for parents to discuss with their teens.
- Family applications to help the parent create and foster a Theology of the Body culture in the home.
"Theology of the Body for Teens has been incredible. John Paul II's teaching is so profound. The book has really brought it down to a teenage level. It opened my eyes to where I not only understand the concepts, but I see why I should live that way, and that's the way I want to live."
-Matt C. High-School Senior
About Theology of the Body for Teens
Young Catholics are surrounded by influences that challenge their faith and morals every day. These challenges call for more than a "do this, don't do that" approach to catechesis. Teens desire truth and understanding about who they are, their purpose in life, and what will ultimately bring them happiness.
Theology of the Body for Teens presents the two hottest topics on the planet - God and sex - and "marries" then through Pope John Paul II's compelling vision for love and life. Using a great mix of stories, real-life examples, activities, prayers, and references to the culture that teens understand, Theology of the Body for Teens answers the questions teens have about their own bodies, issues on sexual morality, and how they were uniquely created for greatness.
The Theology of the Body for Teens program is divided into 12 unique segments presented by Jason & Crystalina Evert and Brian Butler that reflect the pedagogical approach of John Paul II's revolutionary teaching. The program has been designed specifically as a Catechetical program to fit perfectly into Catholic schools, youth ministry, CCD, and homeschooling settings.
Theology of the Body for Teens has been granted the Imprimatur by Justin Cardinal Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia.
Participants Will Learn Answers to Questions such as:
- Why did God give us our sexual desires?
- What is the difference between love and lust?
- Can Christ bring healing is I've already "messed up"?
- How far is "too far"?
- How can teens stay pure in our oversexed culture?
- Is there any hope for overcoming lust and pornography?
- What does our sexuality teach us about God?
- What is the "language of the Body" and how do I "speak" it?
- How can I discover my vocation?
"Our parish has been using the Theology of the Body for Teens curriculum, for juniors and seniors in high school. We've had many parents comment about how, unlike in the past, they don't have to force their kids out the door on Wednesday evening to go to CCD, because the youth are enthused about going! And our boys' class-seniors and juniors in high school, which normally would have a very low attendance rate for CCD-has had an attendance rate of over 90%!"
